Target Audience:

All managers and leaders

Course Objectives:

To give managers:

  • A grounding in mental health issues – conditions, triggers, symptoms, treatments, etc.
  • a straightforward 5-step approach and practical tools to help support the mental wellbeing of their staff:
    - How to spot the signs and anticipate the triggers of mental ill health
-The internal barriers that often stop managers from taking action and how to lower them
-How to talk to a member of staff they are concerned about
-What practical help they can offer – within the organisation and beyond
-How to safeguard their own mental wellbeing while supporting their staff
  • The tools to build a better wellbeing culture for their team / the organisation as a whole.

Course Overview:

This is an interactive course using live drama, video case study material and active exercises to explore the issues in a lively and engaging way.

It has 3 elements:

  1. Individual Preparation – web-based videos / succinct documents prepare staff for Group Session
  2. Group Session – 1-day, facilitated group experience.
  3. Individual Consolidation - web-based electronic handbook, videos/documents.

The Individual Preparation videos introduce participants to a fictional character, Jim, who we return to throughout the Group Session to practice sign-spotting and opening-up a wellbeing conversation.

The last section explores how managers can build a better culture for their team, with simple, practical exercises and structures that foster mental and physical wellbeing.
